Who will perform at Times Square on NYE 2021?

This year will be the 49th anniversary of  New Years Rockin Eve. Despite the setbacks due to the current pandemic, a multitude of artists will perform on times Square on December 31st starting from 6 pm E.S.T. Some of the major performers include Billy Porter, Machine Gun Kelly, Gloria Gaynor, Jimmie Allen, Pitbull, and Jennifer Lopez.

From 8:45 to 8:57 Gloria Gaynor will be making a debut on Times Square. Among a number of songs it is confirmed that she will be performing her famous I Will Survive. The encouragement of this song is much needed at the end of this year.

As we hope that this year’s difficulties will shortly come to an end, Pitbull will perform ¡Feliz 2021! By Univision, which perfectly captures the mood and emotions of most people. Many of us are welcoming 2021 with open arms and hope for a brighter year with a return to normalcy. It also reinforces the celebratory sensation of New Years altogether.

After having a stellar performance last Superbowl, Jennifer Lopez will return to perform at Times Square as well. This is exactly what the audience needs as it reminds us of Super Bowl 2020, one of the few good moments that we’ve had in this tumultuous and treacherous year. She’ll  be performing a number of songs between 11:38 and 11:46 E.S.T. but the exact pieces have not been revealed. It’ll be interesting to see what J-lo will bring this time around.

Ending the musical performances on a hopeful and inspiring note, Andra Day will perform Imagine by John Lennon right before the ball drops between 11:55 to 11:58.

Not only will the evening be filled with wonderful music, but it also will contain many of its cherished traditions. New Years often means carrying on the good memories and leaving behind the difficult moments. There is a latin American tradition where on December 28th people stuff dolls with objects representing the most dreaded memories of the past year. Since many people have the shared sensation of saying good riddance to the past year, on Times Square will present highlights of good riddance day from 7:01 to 7:03 E.S.T. Individuals are able to submit what they would like to destroy at #GoodRiddanceDay on Instagram and Twitter.

New years not only represents leaving the past but also represents embracing the future. Thus, it is a time of goal setting and wishes. Times Square will celebrate this moment with a confetti wish. Individuals can submit personal goals, dreams, wishes, and aspirations they have for the next year and in the long-term future on #ConfettiWish on Instagram and Twitter. These wishes will be written on confetti that will fall on Times Square at midnight. Some of these confetti wishes will be read from 6:57 to 7:00 E.S.T.
