Which Social Media App is Best?

Nowadays, the term social media has been expanded into many different meanings, but also into many different platforms. Since our social media market now has a plethora of apps to choose from—Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.—it makes a social media consumer like myself curious as to which app everyday people find is the best. More specifically, which social media platform do people find is the easiest to use, the most accessible, the easiest to navigate, and an app that is an all around great app to use.

I sent out a survey to 15 people with several questions pertaining to social media in order to gain a better perspective on their social media usage and habits.

Below are the following questions I asked with the general consensus from the consumers:

1.Which social media app is better (in your opinion)?

Instagram – 73%

Facebook – 27%

Snapchat – 0%

Twitter- 0%

Other – N/A

2.Which social media app do you feel you used the most in 2018?

Instagram – 73%

Facebook – 27%

Snapchat – 0%

Twitter – 0%

3.Which social media app do you feel you used the least in 2018?

Instagram – 0%

Facebook – 18%

Snapchat – 36%

Twitter – 46%

Other – 0%

4.Which social media app do you feel is easiest to use?

Instagram – 73%

Facebook – 18%

Snapchat – 0%

Twitter – 9%

5.Which social media app do you have the most followers in?

Instagram – 36%

Facebook – 64%

Snapchat – 0%

Twitter – 0%

Other – 0%

As one can see, the top two social media apps that are Instagram and Facebook, with Instagram taking most of the votes in each question. So, what does this survey tell us? For one, it shows how many people favor Instagram over all other social media platforms. It also shows—through an astute observation— that people prefer Instagram because it is easier to use, navigate, and connect with others through pictures compared to Twitter that heavily emphasizes the written word. Based on this survey, Instagram is the app that ranks supreme and is the one that most people gravitate towards to satiate their social media needs.

In the survey, I also asked the respondents to tell me why they feel that social media app is better than the rest or why they use it more. Here is what some of them had to say:

“I feel that for me, instagram is the most balanced. I don’t have nearly as many friends that I communicate with on Snapchat. I feel that Facebook is starting to become outdated, less people use it. I don’t have a Twitter that I use on a daily basis. Personally I feel like taking pictures is one of the better and easier ways to record what is going on in your life, as well as view what’s going on in other people’s lives.”

“I like to look at people’s life through their photos. It’s cool to look at peoples perspective through what they take pictures of. You can tell a lot of about a person by what they consider to be art.”

“Definitely my favorite… most user friendly and business driven.”

“[Great for] Networking and publicity.”

While other surveyors said they prefer Facebook because it is more personal, they feel it is more user friendly, or that Facebook appeals to their interests more, Instagram was the one that most of the people I surveyed said they liked more. It is ironic to me, however, that while many of the people I surveyed prefer Instagram more so than the other social media apps that most of them have more friends on Facebook than Instagram. Why is that so?

Maybe the answer to the above question could be that Facebook has been around longer than Instagram, people using Facebook since the early 2000s where Instagram become viral in the 2010s. It could also be that Facebook is more about reconnecting with old friends rather than posting pictures to connect with people in the current moment. Despite all of the conjectures, Instagram was still voted the best social media app by my surveyors, so how can they—and many others—go about expanding their following on Instagram rather than Facebook?

Like some of the surveyors said, Instagram is a great place to network and publicize oneself. Use Instagram to market your brand and to publicize who you are. We now live in the age of the social and a part of that concept is “Seeing is believing.” People want to see who you are and want to gather a sense of your personality, work ethic, or what you represent through your posts. Use Instagram for your own personal gain and make sure you show them YOU; not someone you think they want to see.

The other way to gain a more expansive following is by utilizing our services here at Tree Frog. We help Instagram users organically attain a bigger following that will not only guarantee more followers, but more likes and comments on your photos as well. We help to connect you with others who may not know about you yet, but will want to know about you in hopes of helping you brand yourself to other Instagram users looking for quality content. Since Instagram is the most used app according to my survey, building a following and publicizing yourself through quality content on there is what will get you recognized easily. Just make sure you use the app the way it is meant to be used and you will find yourself having more and more followers on there each day.

I hope this post gives you insight on current social media trends. Just because Instagram is the most popular and widely used app today does not mean it will stay that way. Since technology is advancing and more and more apps are being created, keeping up with the trend can be difficult, but it can also be rewarding. However, since Instagram is the top app of 2018, get on there and start cultivating a page that you can be proud of. You never know where Instagram will take you, especially in due part to its extreme popularity and prestige in the social media world!

Instagram has been voted the best social media app, but what do you all think? Comment below and let me know if you agree with this or if you feel another social media app is better than Instagram.
