The New “Snow White”

Almost a century ago, Snow White debuted as the first-ever Disney princess. The movie was the first “full-length traditionally animated feature film and the first Disney animated feature film”. It became so iconic that it was named as one of the greatest films by the American film institute. Snow White was released in 1937, but people still know the entire story of the beloved princess. It isn’t a surprise that the movie has the famous line, “Who is the fairest of them all?” will have its own remake as a live-action through Disney.

Adriana Caselotti was the voice of the first-ever Snow White. Now, the well-known role will be handed over to Rachel Zegler. Rachel is a relatively new actor as her first-ever role has not debuted yet. After a casting call, she was selected over 30,000 choices to play Maria in the new adaptation of West Side Story. The director of the new Disney motion picture, Marc Webb, gave the reasons why he thought Zegler would be perfect, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts…Her strength, intelligence, and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale”. Zegler without a doubt is beyond excited for her role, she captioned the news, “well… hello to a dream come true. 🍎✨”

Besides Webb and Zegler, some of the other involvements in the film have been announced as well. Marc Platt will be the producer and he has produced classics like Legally Blonde and Rent. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be writing the music for the film. They have written songs for the famous broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. As of right now, neither the Prince nor the Evil Queen has been cast, but fans cannot wait to see more details as they come out!

Production for the film won’t start until 2022, so fans have a long wait before they will see Snow White in action. Nonetheless, Disney has been working hard to release old classics in a new way. Cinderella, Beauty and The Beast, Mulan, Lion King, Aladdin, and many more have already been made into a live-action counterpart. The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio are other features that are currently in the works. Disney is on a live-action agenda, as most fans love to see their favorite movies in a different light. These new editions also allow younger generations to fall in love with the stories. It keeps these amazing fairytales from never dying out and always being a part of someone’s childhood.
