Instagram is one of the main apps celebrities use to share vulnerable parts of their lives; some celebrities want to be transparent with their followers and show them what is happening in their lives. In this article, I want to share some of the most liked Instagram posts of 2020. Unfortunately, some of the popular Instagram posts have been because of tragedy and in 2020 our country received an abundance of sad news.
At the beginning of 2020, the world was saddened by the news of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant dying in a helicopter accident. Kobe Bryant has been noted as one of the greatest basketball players to have ever played and has been a role model for those who play basketball and for those who do not. Gianna was only 13 and following in his footsteps. Several Instagram posts dedicated to Gianna and Kobe were posted during the weeks after their deaths. Kobe’s last Instagram post has 14.1 million likes, Lebron James’s post about Kobe has 15.4 million likes, and Vanessa Bryant, wife to Kobe and mother to Gianna, posted a picture of her family which has received around 12 million likes.

Fortunately, not all of the most liked Instagram posts were because of tragedy. Here are some of the Instagram posts that spread happiness.

Many celebrities announced their pregnancies this year or shared pictures of their newly-born children. Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik seem to be the couple who got the most likes. Gigi and Zayn have been dating off and on since 2016 and announced in mid-2020 they were expecting a baby together. In July, Gigi posted a photo of her and Zayn and stated “Baby daddy” which received almost 11 million likes. But the picture announcing that their baby girl has joined the world received 13.5 million likes.
Lastly, Ariana Grande in December announced her engagement and her Instagram post has already received 15 million likes. Many were surprised as fans did not know she was dating anyone. Ariana has had public relationships before thus it is understandable why she may have kept this one more private. And her fans and supporters are wishing her a happy engagement!
2020 has been a difficult year for everyone but it has been amazing to see that celebrities were still able to expose some parts of their lives to the public. I am sure these moments brightened up some people’s days or comforted those who were also mourning. Instagram has been a great outlet for everyone to come together in these times of uncertainty.
