How to Elevate Your Brand on Instagram

Your Instagram profile is not only an extension of your brand, but enhances your brand by adding new dimensions and life. Just like your website, Instagram is another platform where consumers and fans go to find out who you are and what your brand is all about.

To help tell your brand’s story effectively from post to post, consistency is key! How do you stay consistent on Instagram? By following these four easy steps.

1. Choose a filter /color scheme

Consistency starts from the moment your audience visits your profile. At first glance, your page should already look cohesive. When it comes to Instagram, most brands choose a filter to use on every photo, or they choose the same color palette to incorporate in each photo. This way, each photo has the same “uniform” and can work together to form a larger beautiful picture of your brand.

2. Find your voice

What kind of language are you going to use to share your brand? From humorous to descriptive, and informative to persuasive language, your voice on Instagram will become part of your brand too.  Choose how often you plan to use emojis in each post. Your brand might start or end each post with an appropriate emoji, while others may use an emoji after each sentence, thought, or word to keep the post colorful and interesting. Some brands with a more professional voice will seldom use emojis to instill a serious tone.

3. Write your story

What is it exactly that you are sharing with your audience? Tips and tricks to help your audience utilize your brand, poetic quotes to inspire your audience to follow your brand, and/or information and updates on your brand to keep your audience hungry for more, are all great ways to share your brand’s story.  Come up with a pattern to share your story in a variety of ways to keep your Instagram exciting, but still exhibit brand consistency. Start your pattern with ideas like “Monday’s motivational quote” or “Tuesday’s tip of the week.”

4. Follow your brand’s mission and values

You’ve thought long and hard about the mission of your brand and the values that support it. Incorporating these into your Instagram is important. What do you want your audience to support or incorporate more into their lives? How are you going to relate to your audience? For example, posting business tips, motivational nuggets, or sharing a favorite book about leadership is a great way for a brand to demonstrate its mission to educate and support a young entrepreneurial audience.

Remember, all around consistency is key for a strong brand!
